Carolyn Kollegger
Passionate about all things mountain and desert, I travel the Western US with my husband, Erwin, a Professional Tour Operator, and paint En Plein Air while he hikes and climbs. Together we currently offer the only Hiking & Painting Tour to visitors to Las Vegas, Nevada through our website www.OutWestAdventureTours.com, TripAdvisor, and Airbnb, this gives me many great painting opportunities as well as the opportunity to pass on my love of the great outdoors and painting En Plein Air!
I began studying oil painting as a child at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio. Later, living in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, I studied under Master Western Artist, Tim Tanner, for two years of private mentorship. I also took classes with several accomplished Plein Air artists, Mary Robetson, Tammy Callens, Bill Cramer, and Julie Gilbert Pollard.
Just some additional info on me, I was selected as one of Teton Valley's Women of 2012 for my art. I was featured in Western Art Collector Magazines June 2013 issue, was awarded a First Place at the 2015 Las Vegas Helldorado Days Art Show & Sale, and in 2017 and now again 2019 I was invited to participate in the National Museum of Wildlife Art's Plein Air Etc! sponsored by Plein Air Magazine in Jackson, Wyoming. I was also invited to participate in the 28th Annual National Exhibition of Traditional Oils Wet Paint Competition by Oil Painters of America of which I am as member, Paint San Clemente California Exhibit and Quick Paint, Spring City Utah's Annual Plein Air Festival including Wet Paint Competition, and Plein Air in the Parks "Painting Moran’s Yellowstone”, and the Red Rock Art Festival Plein Air Competition in Moab, Utah, in October among other events in 2019. I am a member of Oil Painters of America, The National Museum of Wildlife Art, The Mountain Artist's Guild, Prescott, Arizona, and The Sedona Arts Center.
